Quotation requests and site surveys
What information is needed for a preliminary quotation?
For a preliminary quotation, we need the installation location, approximate dimensions of the shading system, the preferred product type and a few photos. If you have floor plans or facade drawings, it is also useful to send them.
How long does it take to receive a quotation?
For simpler requests, we can usually prepare a preliminary quotation within a short time. Complex pergolas, larger systems or special fixing conditions may require technical consultation and an on-site survey.
Is an on-site survey always required?
Before ordering custom-made shading systems, an accurate on-site survey is generally required. During the survey we check dimensions, fixing surfaces, electrical connections and any circumstances that may affect installation.
Where do you provide surveys and installation?
We primarily work in Budapest and Pest County, but for larger or special projects we may also provide installation in other locations by prior arrangement.
Can I request a quotation based on photos?
Yes. A preliminary quotation can be prepared based on photos and approximate dimensions. Final manufacturing dimensions, however, must be established during an on-site survey.
Pergolas
What is the difference between a bioclimatic pergola and a fabric-roof pergola?
A bioclimatic pergola has rotating aluminium roof slats that allow light and natural ventilation to be controlled. A fabric-roof pergola uses retractable outdoor fabric, giving a lighter appearance and effective sun protection.
Is a bioclimatic pergola completely waterproof?
Closed slats and integrated drainage can provide significant protection against rain, but a pergola is not the same as a fully enclosed building. In wind-driven rain, water may enter from the sides.
What type of foundation is required for a pergola?
Pergola posts must be fixed to a suitable load-bearing surface. The required foundation depends on the pergola’s dimensions, weight, design and the conditions at the installation site.
Can ZIP screens or glass walls be added later?
Many pergola systems can be extended later, but it is best to consider this during the planning stage. Whether retrofitting is possible always depends on the specific structure and dimensions.
Can a pergola be used in winter?
Yes, but the manufacturer’s snow, wind and operating instructions must be observed. Accumulated snow and ice on the roof must not be ignored.
Awnings
Should I choose a cassette or open awning?
When retracted, a cassette awning protects the fabric and structural components from the weather. An open awning may also be suitable where an eave, balcony or other building element provides protection above it.
How much wind can an awning withstand?
Permitted wind load varies by product and size. In strong, stormy or gusty winds, the awning must be retracted. A wind sensor can provide additional protection but does not replace correct use.
Can an awning remain open in the rain?
An awning is primarily designed for sun protection. At a suitable pitch it may provide some protection from light rain, but it should not be left open during prolonged or heavy rainfall.
Can the awning fabric be replaced separately?
In many cases, yes. The possibility of replacement depends on the condition, size and type of the existing structure.
ZIP screens and textile shading
What is a ZIP screen?
A ZIP screen is a vertical textile shading system in which the fabric runs inside side guide rails. It can significantly reduce solar heat gain while, depending on the selected fabric, still preserving a degree of outward visibility.
Is exterior or interior shading better?
Exterior shading is generally more effective at reducing indoor heat gain because it blocks a substantial part of the solar radiation before it reaches the glazing. Interior shading is mainly useful for controlling light and privacy.
Does a ZIP screen provide complete blackout?
Not every screen fabric provides complete blackout. Light transmission depends on the fabric colour, openness factor and construction.
Can it be used in strong winds?
Wind resistance depends on the system type, size, fixing method and the manufacturer’s specifications. The permitted limit must always be determined from the technical documentation of the specific product.
External Venetian blinds and roller shutters
What is the difference between an external Venetian blind and a roller shutter?
External Venetian blinds allow precise light control with tilting slats while still permitting partial outward visibility. Roller shutters are more suitable for strong shading, privacy and a degree of thermal and acoustic protection.
Which external Venetian blind slat profile is right for me?
The best slat profile depends on the dimensions, desired appearance, light control and wind load. C, S and Z-shaped slats have different characteristics, so we recommend technical consultation before selection.
Can an existing roller shutter or external Venetian blind be motorised?
In many cases, yes. This depends on the condition of the existing structure, shaft, head box dimensions and the availability of an electrical connection.
Motorisation and automation
Can the shading system be controlled by remote control and smartphone?
Depending on the selected motor and control system, operation can be configured with a wall switch, remote control, smartphone app or smart-home integration.
What does a wind sensor do?
When the set wind threshold is reached, a wind sensor can automatically move the shading system into a safer position. It is important to note that a sensor cannot guarantee complete protection from storm damage in every situation.
Does a motorised shading system work during a power outage?
Standard mains-powered motors generally do not operate during a power outage. Emergency or battery-backed solutions may be available for certain systems.
Installation, warranty and maintenance
How long does installation take?
Installation time depends on the product type, size, quantity and site conditions. A simpler shading system may take a few hours to install, while a complex pergola system may require several working days.
What warranty applies to the products?
The warranty period and conditions depend on the selected product, motor and manufacturer. The exact terms are always stated in the quotation and related documentation.
Do shading systems require maintenance?
Yes. Periodic inspection of guide rails, moving parts, drainage and sensors can support safe operation and a longer service life.
Do you also provide repairs?
Yes. We provide repairs and replacement of parts for systems where suitable spare parts and technical documentation are available.
